The Lord tells us in a variety of ways to worry less and pray more throughout the Bible. Worry is an ingredient in life that can become all consuming if we allow it to.
This is why the Father makes sure to give us directions that cause us to bypass our worries. The Apostle Paul lays out a method to get God's attention in 3 steps.
Prayer- Take it to the Lord
Supplication- Shift focus from your cares, and pray for others
Thanksgiving- give thanks for his attention and grace
Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Sometimes the most important times to stay in communication with the Lord, is when it makes the least sense to do so.
When worries come, there is a smart, and effective approach to quenching it before it takes root in your heart. Separate what you're capable of, and what you're not.
When you realize the steps you can personally take to conquer the source of the worry or concern, you now know where the Lord will need to step in and intervene. Now you have a better focus as to what needs to be taken to him in prayer.
He does what we can't do, not what we can do. The Father knows where you're going to have to pass the torch to him, but wants you to take care of what is possible, while he awaits to remove the impossible.
Worries breed Hastiness
All seem simple to do, until of course you're in the thick of worry and stress. There's one question you need to ask yourself, and to answer it as honestly as possible.
How often have you formulated a well thought out plan of action, when consumed with worries or duress that this world is so eager to lay upon you?
Struggling with worries can lead to either hasty decision making, or lead you into a state of panic not knowing what to do. The Lord knows this, and wants us to avoid being worried- "Be careful for nothing".
Worries Solve Nothing
Getting all worked up over worries changes absolutely nothing, and at times will only make things worse. Kind of like scratching an itch too much.
Figure out what you can do, and rely on the Father through Christ Jesus, to do everything that you can't. Let him take the cares and work them out.
After all, he's far more qualified to handle it than we are. Worry less and pray more- you'll be better off and happier for it.
